Rwandan King appoints Ethiopian as special envoy

ADDIS ABEBA(May 31, 2007) - His Majesty King Kigeli V of Rwanda has appointed Ethiopian Citizen, Honorable Mussie Hailu, as his special emissary and to head the establishment of the Council of African Royal Society and Traditional Rulers for Peace, Development and Reconciliation in Africa, according to a press release,according to a press release.

Mussie Hailu is also appointed as representative of His Majesty in Africa.

"Hon. Mussie Hailu is peace activist working hard in promoting interfaith harmony and the golden rule through out the world, he is also an advocate for global cooperation, world citizenship, securing global peace and constructive dialogue among nations and different religions and faith groups," the King who is in exile in the USA said in his remark on the occasion of the appointment at Ritz Canton hotel in Virginia, USA.

"In all his activities through out the world Hon. Hailu preaches and practices the golden rule and the right direction of life which leads us from darkness to light, from despair to hope, from killing to co-existence, from war to peace, from hate to love, and from competition to cooperation," the King added on Hialu's commitment for peace.

The King also strongly appreciated Hailu's "outstanding" work in pioneering the Former African Heads of State Council.

"I have a high respect and admiration to this true son of Africa," the King said.

His Majesty King Kigeli V was four when his family was exiled by the Belgian government. He returned to Rwanda in 1962 after the country gained its independence. But soon came the 1962 revolution that forced him to leave. He lived in different countries for thirty years and finally was granted political asylum in the United States in 1992 where he has lived ever since.

Note: Mussie Hailu of Ethiopia, a long-time supporter of the People's Assembly Movement, is honored by His Majesty King Kigell V of Rwanda for his peace activism.
