ACT's MODEST ACHIEVEMENTS

i) LEISA NETWORK - Trichy

Low external inputs and sustainable agriculture is the single focus of this network ACT is an associate member of if. To realize the LEISA mission and on behalf of ACT. Kodungal Village was identified for LEISA sample land and it has been natured by concern village SMFU small and Marginal Farmers unit. 200 RPF resource poor farmers have been benefiting it. Making and Marketing of earth warm compost, compost, Panchakavia tapering of rural resources and converting into possible use of bio-dynamic agriculture and organic farming are the action oriented programme of LEISA. It has been continuously supported by HIVOS, Netherlands. Honorarium to one Co-ordinator to one organisation, revolving loan fund to SMFU is the special features of LEISA.

ii) Consortium Dalith Right and Liberation network :

CDRL is mugaiyur based Network, operating under the able guidance of ACT and has 10 neighbor NGO's members. Legal prospective, Dalith Women's Decision making power are the main focus of CDRL. Due to non availability of funding source we could not do some what effective work with CDRL.

iii) Labour Union:

Un organized Labours union has been operating under the stewardship of Mr.S. Arulandu, A total of 700 labourers who are hailed from Non-formal labouring sector. They are provided with identity card which was recognized and signed by labour Welfare Board Govt. of Tamilnadu. Exactly 100 labours were assisted with an amount of Rs.1500 for their Children's higher secondary school studies.

Further 10 other laborers families were benefited by death relief fund of Rs. 17,000 each by the labour board Govt of India. In an innovative way of approach they have been involving with saving and Micro credit a uniform saving size of Rs. 60/- per month for this kind of facilitation. We appoint a women activist cum promoter who has been getting a remuneration of Rs.1500/- monthly by an earnest support of Mr. C. Nicholas, Ambedkar Peravai.

iv) Tamilnadu Quarry labourers Union:

About 750 resource poor labourers who are buried with extreme poverty were working as lifelong bonded labourers under stone Quarries situated in and around Villupuram District. It is due to our continuous initiatives; we conducted a month long counseling and freed them from exploitative environment. They are now set up as quarry workers union. In another level we have facilitated them for their Children education. They are now earning their daily bread through alternative IGP and Self reliance thereby.

v) National Environment Awareness Campaign (NEAC)

Since 1997, Association for community Training was an associate member NGO of state Co-ordinating Agency, C.P.R. foundation, Chennai. To keep our rural surroundings clean and green and protect bio-mass from pollution, popularization of organic faming agriculture among Resource poor farmers are the central teamed of its Programme. Campaign activities workshop IEC productions are our strategy.

vi) Capacity building of ACT's Staff:

To have adequate competency skill in various development action programmes ACT had to depute 10 of its staffs to various Resource centers. i.e.ISI Bangalore, New Delhi, Mumbai,Mithra Nikethan, Trivendrum, Elaginri Hills, Tripathur, Chennai etc. After that they would be acting as Master Trainer of our key leaders of WSHG's and various peer groups/stake holders of community organization.
