Purpose & Description:

OPTIMISTE RDC is affiliated to Optimist International, one of the world's largest civic service organizations whose sole mission is to better the lives of children in every community through one of 3,000 Optimist Clubs! Each year Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects that reach more than six million
young people throughout the world and help improve life in communities.

All of our Clubs are 501(c)(3) Charitable organizations, which means that donor contributions are tax deductible. Also, each Club carries with it an 11 million dollar liability insurance policy, so members of our Club are
covered in the unlikely event of litigations as we are conducting service projects for our community

OPTIMISTE RDC holds regulars meeting every Sunday at HOLIDAYS FLAT, VIVI 37, C/KINTAMBO in Kinshasa Democratic Republic of the Congo at 16H00'.

We are an optimist club chartered on August 5th 2007 and are preparing community projects to be run in 2008. The first trimester was dedicated in getting all necessary documents and authorisations that will allow to our club run legally according to laws if force in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

We have already elected all the officers that will lead the organization. Optimiste RDC is made up of very enthusiastic and committed individuals who are very concerned by the situation of their community. Our members have been recruited among nurses, engineers, medical staffs, students, administrative agents.

Activities:

We look forward to responding to the special needs of children and our local communities and have thus started with training meeting and workshops with volunteer that will be involved with us. We have been able to find our first partner that is the Holiday Flat Hotel where we hold all our meeting and can also host all our guest from abroad with 50% of discount.

On November 2007 we had the visit of a world traveller from Canada who found accommodations in our partner hotel, with the help of this visitor we have been able to collect clothes, toys and schools supply that have be given to poor children of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

We are expecting the visit of the founder of Global Village another not for profit Organization that want to partner with us, He is expected to be here at Kinshasa on January 2007.

OPTIMISTE RDC is also working in field of conflict resolutions, for that we plan to have many workshops with youth and ethnic groups' delegate. We received as speaker the Country Director of Search for common ground who gave us clear explanations about the general situation of our Country and what to do to solve some conflict at the eastern part.

We have several other programs for youth and community on the field of NTIC, Education, Environment and plan to organize conferences with famous personalities of the Country, industrial, international organization during
which youth, pupils and student will be invited to attend.
