Urged to Continue UN Reforms; Promises Transparency and NGO Engagement - On May 24, 2007 the UN General Assembly
elected Srgian Kerim of Macedonia to be the President of the
62nd session of the General Assembly, which opens 18 September
2007. He will take over from current President Sheika Haya Rashed
Al Khalifa, the first woman to preside over the GA.

presents road map to victory over warming - The
United Nations' climate panel on Friday laid out a number of
steps the world should take to rein in the growing threat of
global warming. The third report this year from the Intergovernmental
Panel on Climate Change, a UN network of some 2,000 scientists,
said the world has the technology and money to do what is needed.
